Are we a nation of snackers?

Last year in the United Kingdom, we spent over £2.8 billion on snacks. Far more than our European neighbours! Whilst snacks can be enjoyed as part of a healthy, balanced diet, please give a thought as to how this affects your teeth.

Each time you eat or drink (anything except water), your teeth are subjected to an acid attack. Too many acid attacks on your teeth will lead to cavities and tooth decay. Research shows that limiting the number of acid attacks per day to 5 or less is the best way to reduce your risk of tooth decay.

This advice is particularly important for children. To monitor your child’s sugar intake, go to http://www.wessingtonway.com/downloads to download our “Food and Drink Clock”. This is a fun way to help children understand how what they eat can affect their teeth.

Have you used our new facilities?

Did you know that at Wessington Way we have many extra facilities for our patients to enjoy whilst at the practice?

Next time you visit, feel free to take advantage of our free WIFI, mobile phone charging and in-surgery Ipod docking stations.

We didn't realise our patients had such an eclectic taste in music!

You said- we did

In our latest practice survey, we asked our patients to rate the following statements out of ten:
  • My dentist uses good quality materials
  • The receptionist makes me feel important to the practice
  • I consider the membership plan to be good value for money

We are delighted that we scored 10/10 for the first two statements.

We scored on average 9/10 for patients who consider the membership plan to be good value for money. Whilst we are very pleased with this result, we thought that we would take this opportunity to discuss the Wessington Way Membership Plan.

We always endeavour to offer excellent value for money for the service that we provide. The decision was taken at the end of last year to increase our adult membership price from £11.51 per month to £12.00 per month. This was the first increase that we had introduced in 4 years. We felt this increase was necessary to allow us to carry on providing our patients with the excellent dental care and service that they deserve.

The following is included with your adult Wessington Way Membership Plan:

·         Two dental health checks a year with your dentist
·         Two plaque control visits a year with one of our dental hygienists
·         Any diagnostic x-rays that are clinically required
·         Assessment and advice appointments that are clinically required
·         20% discount on all dental treatment
·         Worldwide emergency, trauma and redundancy insurance

If there is any aspect of our care or service that you would like to comment on, please feel free to get in touch. We love your feedback!

Team news

We are delighted to welcome aboard two new trainee dental nurses, Laura and Paige.

Laura joined Wessington Way Dental Practice in the new year after deciding on a change in career. She had previously studied fashion and textiles at Newcastle College, and worked in fashion retail for 3 years. She is excited about starting her new career as a dental nurse and will begin her dental nursing qualification in the summer. Laura lives in Hebburn with her family and enjoys cooking, eating out, swimming and spending time with her friends and boyfriend, Ashley.

Paige has always been interested in dentistry but only recently decided to pursue a career as a dental nurse after working in retail. Paige lives in Seaham and enjoys shopping, art, cinema, walking her dog and spending time with friends, family and her boyfriend, Michael.

We hope you will join us in wishing the girls all the best for their futures at Wessington Way.
